The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is looking for great candidates to join our Y Clubhouse team at three locations in the Oklahoma City Housing Authority communities. The Y Clubhouse provides after school and summer programming for school age kids. We offer meals, homework help, games, crafts, and other activities for kids within their own communities.
POSITION DESCRIPTION

Y Clubhouse Program Staff will be directly responsible for the safety, supervision, leadership and guidance for a group of youth participants during program.

This role promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall experience.

Staff will provide a quality experience to children that focus on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Builds and maintain a positive environment for all students.
-
Supervise and ensure the safety of children.
-
Maintain attendance records.
-
Implement and execute lesson plans for scheduled program times, which include provisions for safe program opportunities and student’s ages and ability differences.

Facilitate positive behavior management techniques and trauma informed approaches.

Assist in providing a positive learning experience for all students

Maintain all program equipment in good order

Report all program changes and equipment needs to Leadership staff.

Model and facilitate relationship-building skills in all interactions and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, school staff and other YMCA staff.

Assists with cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms and equipment.

Ability to perform both indoor and outdoor activities.
-
Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
Requirements:

Must be at least 16 years or older
-
Interest in working with children and youth, exercising sound emotional maturity, moral character, judgement, integrity and leadership capability.

Safety certifications and required trainings upon hire in accordance with required standards.
Physical requirements:
-
Ability to walk, stand, sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
-
Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
-
Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
-
Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
-
Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping.

Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff, and parents.

Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with children.

Must be able to move freely and quickly through the facility and alternate program locations including indoor and outdoor space.
