Geotechnical Engineer- Morgantown, WV
Potesta & Associates, Inc. (POTESTA) is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our engineering team. This position provides an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects involving site development, transportation, infrastructure, and other public- and private-sector improvements throughout West Virginia.
The successful candidate will be involved in both field and office activities, working with POTESTA’s engineers, scientists, and technical staff to evaluate subsurface conditions and develop practical engineering solutions for challenging sites.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate and participate in geotechnical field investigations and subsurface exploration programs
- Review drilling information, field observations, laboratory testing results, and other subsurface data
- Perform engineering evaluations related to soil, rock, groundwater, and site conditions
- Develop foundation, earthwork, retaining structure, and slope recommendations
- Conduct slope stability and other geotechnical engineering analyses
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction recommendations
- Visit active project sites and provide construction-phase observation and engineering support
- Work closely with civil, environmental, and other engineering disciplines throughout project development
- Contribute to project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, and proposals
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering
- Five or more years of relevant engineering experience preferred
- EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred, or ability to obtain
- Experience with geotechnical investigations and engineering analysis
- Knowledge of infrastructure, transportation, or site development projects is beneficial
- Effective technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to organize multiple assignments and work effectively as part of a project team
