Organization Overview
Pulaski County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) mission is to provide trained, qualified, court appointed volunteers to give abused and neglected children a voice in court and advocate for their best interests. Our vision is a CASA Advocate for every child in foster care.
Pulaski County CASA fulfills this mission by recruiting, training and supervising volunteers from the community who are appointed as Officers of the Court to protect and promote their best interest while ensuring they have access to safe and permanent homes. CASA Advocates are volunteers from all walks of life. They have a variety of professional, educational and cultural backgrounds. They are selected on the quality of their objectivity, competence, and commitment.
General Description
The Advocate Supervisor reports to the Executive Director and supports, guides, and supervises the work of the CASA Advocates, advocating for the best interest of abused and neglected children living in foster care. In doing so, the Advocate Supervisor ensures volunteer compliance with Organization policies. The Advocate Supervisor will support the Executive Director, as needed, in the day-to-day administration of the Program. He/she will support the volunteer's day to day work including collaboration with the Department of Children and Family Services, the Juvenile Courts and the Judicial Teams.
Responsibilities
- Supervision, support and management of volunteer CASA Advocates and their assigned cases: maintain organized and up-to-date physical and electronic case records in compliance with Agency protocols, ensuring date integrity for reporting needs.
- Supervise volunteer CASA Advocates, caseload size is at the discretion of the Executive Director and guided by National CASA Association standards.
- Support volunteer CASA Advocates in the completion of court-mandated duties, including, but not limited to court reports and participating in court hearings and case staffings.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment to assist volunteer CASA Advocates in creative problem solving, utilizing Agency and community resources and ensuring accuracy and consistency with dependency permanency planning laws and best practices.
- Facilitate and mediate relationships between volunteer CASA Advocates and professionals, family members, and others as needed.
- Maintain monthly minimum contact with volunteer CASA Advocates, providing coaching and advice tailored to individual case and volunteer needs.
- Identify and share information about specialized services and resources with volunteer CASA Advocates and CASA staff.
- Annually evaluate volunteer CASA Advocate performance in the fulfillment of their duties.
- Complete timesheets weekly.
- Work in the areas of recruitment, screening and training of new CASA Advocates and the continuing education and retention of established CASA Advocates.
- Establish and maintain effective, collegial working relationships with Pulaski & Perry County CASA staff, board and volunteers, as well as with representatives of the DHS, Attorney ad litems, parent counsel, DHS attorneys, Judicial leadership, education service providers and other community service providers and entities.
- Other duties as assigned. non-essential job duties, non-related responsibilities and other tasks as required by the Executive Director may be assigned from time to time.
Pay: $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
