Job Title: Youth Mental Health Technician

Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Counselor's to join our team in providing high-quality care and support to adolescents facing mental and behavioral health challenges. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in promoting the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of young individuals in a therapeutic setting. You will work closely with mental health professionals to assist with the implementation of treatment plans and ensure a safe and supportive environment for our youth clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Care: Provide individualized support to youth clients, assisting them with daily living activities, coping strategies, and emotional regulation techniques.
- Therapeutic Environment: Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured environment by maintaining appropriate boundaries and enforcing program rules.
- Monitoring: Observe and document clients’ behaviors, moods, and progress, reporting significant changes to supervisors and the therapeutic team.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises with appropriate intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with mental health professionals, family members, and support staff to develop and implement personalized care plans.
- Engagement Activities: Facilitate individual and group activities that promote emotional growth, social skills, and interpersonal relationships.
- Education & Support: Provide guidance and education to clients about mental health, coping mechanisms, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client interactions and treatment progress in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Training & Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge related to youth mental health.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a mental health, educational, or therapeutic setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities related to youth.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with young clients and their families.
- Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with diverse professionals.
- Crisis intervention training (e.g., CPI, CPR, or equivalent) is a plus.
- Must pass background checks and any other regulatory requirements for working with youth.
Physical Demands
- Ability to physically intervene when necessary and handle unexpected situations with poise.
- Must be able to lift or assist clients as needed and stand or walk for extended periods.
