Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Workers to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. As a Direct Care Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by assisting them with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being in a group home or residential setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Support clients in daily living activities such as meal preparation, cooking, and household tasks.
- Monitor patient health and report any changes or concerns to the supervising staff.
- Assist individuals with mobility challenges and perform heavy lifting as needed.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote social interaction and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by adhering to hygiene and safety protocols.
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records of client progress and activities.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Previous caregiving experience in a group home or similar setting is preferred.
- Strong patient monitoring skills to ensure the health and safety of clients.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility or transfers.
- Knowledge of hospice care practices is a plus for supporting terminally ill clients.
- Familiarity with memory care techniques to assist clients with cognitive impairments.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
- A caring attitude and commitment to providing high-quality support to those in need.
