American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a General OR position requiring at least 1 year of surgical tech experience and Level 1 Trauma experience.

Hospital General OR setting with a focus on a broad range of surgical procedures
-
Strength in ortho and total joint cases is preferred for this General OR position
-
Schedule is 4x10s, 7:00AM–5:00PM, with day off TBD
-
On-call requirement of 4 to 5 call shifts per 4-week period, including both weekday and weekend call
-
Holiday coverage is on-call

Epic EMR experience is required

13-week contract, 40 hours per week

Minimum 1 year of surgical tech experience

Level 1 Trauma experience required

Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or a Certificate of Completion of a Surgical Technology program

BLS certification from the American Heart Association
-
IDPH Fingerprinting required
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures
-
Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology as applied to surgical patient care

Familiarity with electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers in a surgical setting
-
License required if applicable

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Applies principles of asepsis to maintain a sterile environment throughout surgical setup and procedures
-
Scrubs surgical procedures and precepts medical students, residents, and other students as needed
-
Assists with obtaining and organizing supplies, equipment, and positioning devices, including patient positioning
-
Participates in room turnover and setup for the next patient in an efficient manner
-
Performs and documents sterilization and disinfection of surgical instrumentation per policy

Charges for equipment and supplies and assists in maintaining a cost-effective department
-
Maintains and cleans equipment and identifies items in need of repair per policy
-
Candidates who have been on assignment with this health system for 1 continuous year must take a 6-month break before returning to any facility within the system
-
RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract

Candidates will be interviewed by facility leadership as part of the selection process

First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but Level 1 Trauma and Epic experience are firm requirements
