Part-Time Special Education Teacher
Location: Montessori Academy
Job Type: Part-Time (Approximately 6–12 hours per week)
Schedule: Approximately two half-days per week (flexible scheduling available)
We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our collaborative Montessori school community. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator looking for a flexible, part-time position where they can make a meaningful impact by working directly with students in a supportive, relationship-focused environment.
This position primarily serves elementary-aged students through small group instruction, resource support, and occasional push-in services. The focus is on helping students build academic skills, confidence, independence, and organizational strategies.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction in small groups and individual settings
- Deliver resource support and push-in services based on student needs and IEPs
- Support students in reading, writing, mathematics, and executive functioning/organizational skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student success
- Monitor student progress and maintain service documentation
- Prepare quarterly progress reports for students receiving special education services
- Schedule and participate in IEP meetings
- Serve as case manager for assigned students (case management experience preferred)
- Communicate professionally and collaboratively with families, teachers, related service providers, and administration
We're Looking for Someone Who:
- Holds a valid Arizona Special Education teaching certification
- Is organized, dependable, and able to manage timelines and compliance requirements
- Builds positive, respectful relationships with students and families
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team
- Is flexible and comfortable supporting students in both resource and classroom settings
- Believes in helping students develop confidence, independence, and self-advocacy
- Has excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Brings a positive attitude and a commitment to helping every child succeed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous special education teaching experience
- Experience with IEP case management and compliance
- Knowledge of progress monitoring and data collection
- Experience collaborating with general education teachers
- Familiarity with Montessori education is appreciated but not required
Requirements
- Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate
- Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
