Position Summary
The Banquet & Events Office Assistant / Banquet Captain is a dual-role position responsible for supporting the banquet office while leading banquet operations during events. This individual assists clients from their first inquiry through event execution while ensuring banquet staff delivers exceptional service during weddings, corporate events, golf tournaments, celebrations, and other special occasions. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys both administrative work and hands-on event leadership. No two days are the same, and you'll play an important role in creating memorable experiences for our guests.
Schedule
Part-Time
Regular schedule includes Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on event
schedules.
Additional hours available during peak event seasons.
Responsibilities
Office & Administrative Duties
Answer incoming phone calls and respond to client inquiries professionally and promptly.
Respond to emails and assist with event-related correspondence.
Conduct venue tours for prospective clients.
Assist with social media updates and online engagement.
Support the Sales Manager with administrative duties and event planning.
Help coordinate event details and communicate effectively with clients.
Banquet Captain Duties
Lead banquet room setup and breakdown for all events.
Supervise banquet staff before, during, and after events.
Ensure events run smoothly from start to finish while maintaining Elkhorn's high standards of
service.
Communicate with the kitchen, restaurant, golf, and bar teams to ensure seamless event execution.
Address guest requests and resolve concerns quickly and professionally.
Ensure banquet spaces remain clean, organized, and event-ready.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous customer service experience.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and social media.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous banquet, catering, hospitality, or event experience.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
Quick learner with a strong work ethic.
Flexible, dependable, and team-oriented.
Consistently punctual and reliable.
Comfortable interacting with clients, vendors, and guests from diverse backgrounds.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events.
Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Assist with moving tables, chairs, décor, and banquet equipment.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb stairs as needed.
Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
