We are seeking an experienced Transportation Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our growing refrigerated trucking fleet. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing dispatch operations, driver performance, fleet maintenance coordination, and overall operational profitability.
This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring our trucks stay loaded, drivers stay productive, and the company continues to grow profitably.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations for a fleet of 35 OTR trucks with refrigerated trailers
- Ensure all trucks are covered with freight and operating efficiently
- Monitor dispatch operations and ensure the team maintains high service levels
- Track and improve fleet utilization, on-time delivery, and driver productivity
Team Leadership
- Manage dispatchers, planners, and support staff
- Ensure strong communication between drivers, dispatch, and management
- Maintain a positive and performance-focused operations culture
Maintenance & Fleet Reliability
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for tractors and trailers
- Work closely with repair shops to ensure minimal downtime
- Monitor maintenance costs and identify areas for improvement
Driver Safety & Compliance
- Implement and monitor driver safety programs
- Track safety scores, violations, and accident prevention measures
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies
Financial Performance
- Manage operational budgets
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Monitor fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and operational expenses
- Develop strategies to increase profitability and support company growth
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in trucking fleet operations
- Experience managing OTR trucking operations
- Strong understanding of dispatch, driver management, and load planning
- Knowledge of DOT compliance and driver safety programs
- Experience with fleet maintenance planning
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with TMS, ELD systems, and fleet management software preferred
