Summary
This position is ideal for experienced sedation nurses who are seeking flexible, PRN work. You will play a critical role in ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes throughout interventional procedures.
- Administer and monitor moderate sedation (conscious sedation) for procedures in a cath lab setting, including angiograms, embolization procedures, and imaging-guided interventions.
- Perform thorough pre-procedure patient assessments, including vital signs, medication review, sedation risk screening, and airway evaluation.
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythm, oxygenation, blood pressure, and level of consciousness during procedures.
- Adjust sedation medications (e.g., midazolam, fentanyl, propofol) as clinically indicated while maintaining airway patency.
- Recognize and respond to sedation-related complications or emergencies.
- Accurately complete electronic documentation of sedation, medications, patient response, and recovery status
- Educate patients and families on procedural sedation, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with interventional radiologists and the procedural team to support efficient workflow and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Must have experience administering moderate sedation in an outpatient, cath lab, or procedural setting.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Ability to work independently with strong clinical decision-making and assessment skills.
Pay: $60.00 - $75.00 per hour
