Job Title: Building Engineer
RPW Group is seeking a hands-on Building Engineer to join our team in Rye Brook, NY. the ideal candidate will have experience maintaining commercial office building systems, including HVAC equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air handlers, VAVs, and rooftop units.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems while working closely with property management, contractors, and tenants to provide a safe and comfortable environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Operate and maintain chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, air handlers, VAVs, rooftop units, and building automaion systems.
- Respond to tenant service requests and troubleshoot building-related issues.
- Complete daily inspections of building equipment and identify maintenance needs.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and assist with vendor oversight.
- Maintain maintenance records and complete work orders through the building management system.
- Participate in emergency response and after-hours calls when required.
- Assist with general building maintenance, including lighting, doors, ceiling tiles, painting, and minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Work closely with the property management team to ensure the buildings operate efficiently and provide excellent tenant service.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 3+ years of experience maintaining commercial office buildings.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, VAVs, air handlers, rooftop units, and heat pumps.
- Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BMS) is preferred.
- HVAC certification or refrigeration license is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills and a strong customer service attitude.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform the physical demands of the job.
This role is Monday - Friday; shift schedule is 7:30 am-4:00 pm but may vary.
Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency service may be required, as well as weekends and Overtime as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
