LUXURY FASHION EMBROIDERY & CLIENT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
New York City | Full-Time
About Milaaya
Milaaya is a leading luxury hand-embroidery and embellishment company based in Mumbai, India, working with international luxury fashion houses, designers and brands.
Our Mumbai atelier and production team specialize in highly skilled hand embroidery, beading, embellishment and textile surface development for luxury womenswear, eveningwear, couture and special projects.
We are looking to expand our presence in New York and are seeking a dynamic, fashion-focused professional to act as the key link between our New York clients and our Mumbai design and production teams.
The Role:
We are seeking a Luxury Fashion Embroidery & Client Development Manager based in New York City.
This is a hybrid role combining client servicing, product development, sampling coordination and business development.
The ideal candidate will already understand the New York luxury fashion industry and be comfortable working directly with designers, product-development teams, fabric teams and production departments.
A major part of the role will be developing relationships with existing and prospective clients and identifying new opportunities for Milaaya’s hand embroidery and embellishment capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage relationships with existing New York fashion clients.
Act as the primary liaison between NYC clients and Milaaya’s Mumbai design, sampling and production teams.
Receive and interpret client briefs, artwork, fabrics, references and development requirements.
Coordinate embroidery and embellishment sampling from concept through approval.
Follow developments closely to ensure samples meet clients’ aesthetic, quality, costing and delivery expectations.
Understand and communicate technical feedback clearly to the Mumbai team.
Present Milaaya’s embroidery techniques, developments, swatches and capabilities to designers and product-development teams.
Schedule and attend regular meetings with fashion houses, designers and brands throughout New York.
Proactively identify and approach potential new clients.
Develop new business relationships and convert development opportunities into commercial orders.
Maintain strong follow-up with clients throughout sampling and production.
Work closely with the Mumbai team on pricing, timelines, production feasibility and delivery.
Provide regular reporting on client developments, new leads, opportunities and potential orders.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone with approximately 5–10 years of relevant experience within luxury or premium fashion.
Candidates may currently be working in roles such as:
Product Development Manager Textile/Fabric Developer Embellishment Developer Production Manager Sourcing Manager Account Manager Fabric R&D Luxury Fashion Business Development
The ideal candidate should have:
Strong knowledge of luxury fashion product development and production.
Experience working with fabrics, textiles, embellishment, embroidery, beading or related categories.
An understanding of garment development and the fashion sampling process.
Existing relationships within the New York fashion industry would be highly desirable.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong aesthetic sensibility and attention to detail.
Ability to understand a designer’s creative vision and translate it into actionable development instructions.
Commercial confidence and a genuine interest in developing new business.
Ability to work independently in New York while collaborating closely with a team in India.
Willingness to work across New York–Mumbai time zones when necessary.
Particularly Relevant Backgrounds
We would be especially interested in candidates who have worked with:
Luxury and designer womenswear brands
Couture or eveningwear
Embellishment or embroidery suppliers
Luxury textile/fabric houses
Fashion product-development departments
International sourcing offices
High-end sample rooms and ateliers
What We Are Looking For
This is not purely a sales position and not purely a production position.
We are looking for someone who understands the creative and technical language of luxury fashion, enjoys working closely with designers and product-development teams, and also has the personality and initiative to build relationships and generate new business.
The successful candidate will become Milaaya’s key representative in the New York market and will play an important role in growing our relationships with leading American luxury fashion brands.
One important change: I would not advertise it publicly as “Embroidery Coordinator.” That title will pull in more junior production/coordinator CVs. “Luxury Fashion Embroidery & Client Development Manager” communicates both the technical and commercial responsibility.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in New York, NY 10001
