Job description:
The Intake Counselor will perform detailed screenings of potential clients asking for help for their substance use disorder, typically by phone, but occasionally in person, using a specific list of questions in an interview guide. They will then present the information gathered to a clinical supervisor and participate in a decision about the type of services and level of care to be recommended to the caller. All data is recorded in an electronic medical record, requiring good to excellent computer skills and careful attention to detail. The intake counselor must also be able to demonstrate care and compassion and non-judgmental acceptance of the person seeking services. Most of the hours will be performed in our Mattoon office.
An Associate degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is required (Bachelor's degree preferred). Candidates with social service experience or long term, verifiable personal recovery will be considered.
