Independent Living Skills Trainer is a teaching service. Specific activities may include assessment and training in: self-care; medication management; task completion; communication and interpersonal skills; socialization; sensory/motor skills; mobility and community transportation skills; problem solving skills; money management; and the ability to maintain a household. Assistance and supervision are not provided under this component. Employed staff must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and one year’s experience providing services to individuals with brain injuries in the community
AND
completed training program(s) concerning acquired brain injury (ABI) and person-centered planning, given by a State Agency, Allied Community Resources, Community Providers, Brain Injury Association of Connecticut, or Independent Living Center
OR
- Demonstrate ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Have documented experience implementing cognitive/behavioral interventions developed by a clinician and utilized in community settings.
