Education: Associates Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology plus two years training/experience in a high complexity testing environment required. Bachelor’s in medical technology, chemical, physical or biological science and one year training/experience in a high complexity testing environment preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory technician is required. ASCP certification preferred. Must be current in BLS.
Experience: Clinical experience and supervisory/management experience required.
Mental/Physical Effort: Significant mental demands arise from frequently changing priorities created by new goals and tasks. Must possess the ability to understand instructions, reason, and to make judgments. Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words, ideas associated with them, and their effective use. Must be able to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately. Must possess ability to understand forms in space and understand relationships of plane and solid objects. Must possess ability to perceive pertinent details and objects in pictorial or graphic material. Must be able to perceive pertinent detail and verbal or tabular material. Work performed is varied in nature and requires prolonged periods of close concentration to details and accuracy. Demands initiative and decision making in possibly controversial and/or emotional issues.
