Job SummaryThe Low Voltage Technician is responsible for responding to customer service requests for access control, CCTV, intercom gate entry and electrified operators, fire and intrusion alarm systems, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring systems operate safely, reliably, and in accordance with customer expectations. This role requires strong diagnostic skills involving low-voltage wiring, electronic hardware, relay logic, use of volt meter to diagnose circuits, access control software programming and technical support, basic networking, and mechanical door hardware.The technician will communicate professionally with customers, accurately document work performed through service tickets, identify required parts or follow-up work, and coordinate with the Service Manager to ensure timely and effective resolution of service issues. Success in this role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Respond to service calls for troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and upgrades of commercial access control, CCTV, intercom gate entry and electrified operators, fire and intrusion alarm systems
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving access control hardware, software, low-voltage wiring, electronic locking devices, and related system components.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and recommend repairs or system improvements as needed.
- Install, replace, configure, and program low voltage devices and software when required.
- Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues related to access control systems.
- Document all work performed, materials used, and recommendations on service tickets accurately and completely.
- Identify and order parts required to complete repairs or schedule follow-up service as needed.
- Communicate service findings, scope changes, labor requirements, and material needs to the Service Manager.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers by providing timely, courteous, and effective service.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicle in a clean and safe operating condition.
- Participate in on-call or after-hours service rotations as required.
- Perform mandatory Test and Inspections of fire alarms, complete NFPA forms and meet with inspectors for permitted work
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience servicing and installing commercial access control systems, electronic door hardware, and low-voltage systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems, electronic hardware, and mechanical door hardware.
- Working knowledge of IP networking, computer operating systems, and access control software.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to learn new products, technologies, and software platforms.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts, and access equipment in ceilings or elevated locations.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to operate a company vehicle safely.
