Definition
Provides supervision and administrative support to teaching staff and children, provides on-going communication with public and private agencies, kindergarten teachers, principles, and support to families in a Part-Day center with one classroom or as designated by the Vice President and COO or President and CEO.
Basic Function
1. Responsible for implementing school goals and objectives and to maintain a positive and professional attitude towards parents, staff, children and community.
2. Assume all duties of the Teacher and Lead Teacher.
Responsibilities
A. Program Services
1. Works as a member of an agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of EES while following EES policies and procedures.
2. Assure facility and program meet or exceed regulations and policies including:

3. Responsible for maintaining enrollment at capacity.
4. Using a team approach, and continuity of care, implements the individual goals and objectives that are set for each child through their IFSP, IEP, or developmental assessment.
5. Responsible for the process of identification and evaluation of children’s needs using a team approach.
6. Maintains confidentiality of children, families and employees of EES.
7. Responsible for completion of Desired Results systems as required by the California Department of Education.
8. Ensure developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children is provided.
9. Greets children, parents, staff and guests.
10. Provides accurate information. Gives tours of sites and classrooms.
11. Maintains and encourages professional, positive, constructive communication with children, families, and staff.
12. Ensure the individual needs and interests of children in relation to their cultural, social and economic background are met.
13. Post new ideas, resources, curriculum guides, and workshop notices.
14. Provides quality services to children and their families in accordance with NAEYC standards.
15. Responsible for ensuring monthly curriculum plans which reflect program quality components through results from the DRDP data summary and California’s Department of Education’s learning foundations are implemented.
16. Responsible for child DRDP portfolios, identifying and planning for physical, cognitive, social-emotional and physical development using a team approach.
17. Obtain and maintain emergency phone numbers for each child.
18. Responsible for Parent/Guardian Participation Program and maintain a minimum of 2 parent volunteers each session.
19. Mentoring Parents on teaching practices while volunteering.
B. Parents/Volunteer Involvement
20. Conduct quarterly Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meetings.
21. Create a monthly calendar, flyers and newsletters or other method as a way of communicating to parents.
22. Complete parent orientation to include reviewing parent handbook, fees, health policies, illness, medication, immunization requirements, and volunteer expectations.
23. Responsible for conducting parent conferences and referral procedures.
24. Provide parent involvement and parent education opportunities.
25. Recruit volunteers and provide an orientation plan.
C. Staffing Coordination and Supervision
26. To have someone trained to act in the Director’s absence.
27. Responsible for scheduling staff in accordance with licensing requirements and site needs.
28. Manage all aspects of employee relations for all teaching staff in the center (i.e. interviewing, hiring, and terminations) following EES procedures.
29. Conduct monthly staff meetings.
30. Reviews performance of staff, substitutes, student teachers and volunteers.
31. Establish a communication system and the development of team work.
32. Recruit and maintain a list of current, qualified substitutes.
33. Develop and ensure implementation of open and closing procedures.
34. Plan monthly training schedule and agenda with Program Director based on program needs.
D. Administrative
35. Document and Inform immediate supervisor of the documented concerns and/or problems.
36. Responsible for accurate update of records on site including but not limited to: enrollment, attendance, meal counts, daily logs, curriculum, child observations, and parent participations.
37. Ensure the following documentation is updated and maintained at the site:
- Attendance, daily tracking, sign-in sheets, & absence notes
- Deposits
- Delinquent accounts
- Bills for payment
- Petty cash
- Payroll and Status Reports
- Weekly budget sheets
- Meal counts and food program eligibilities
- Health files and immunization records
- Staff files and documentation of benefits
- Documentation, DRDP’s
- Earthquake & fire drills, monthly
- Other records as needed or required
- Contract monitoring review & NAEYC
38. Submit site director monthly report with monthly site checklist.
39. Is the legal designee to send and/or receive legal documents (i.e. restraining orders, suspected child abuse reports, unusual incident reports, etc.).
40. Accept and document donated goods and services.
41. Submit payroll, accounts payable items, notices sent home to parents, deposits, petty cash and notices to staff on a weekly basis to the authorized staff member in the administrative office.
42. On a monthly basis submit, staff meeting agenda, P.A.C meeting agendas, attendance, and accrual/outstanding invoice form to authorized staff member in the administrative office.
43. Forward copies of licensing reviews, fire inspections, and health department reviews to Vice President, Programs immediately upon receipt.
44. Seek prior approval from President and CEO before endorsing memorandum of understanding in regards to collaboration with other community funded agencies.
E. Health and Safety
45. Assures that maintenance is completed in a timely fashion. Oversee continual repairs and safe equipment, sanitary bathrooms, kitchen and classrooms, assure drinking fountains are unclogged, trash cans covered and emptied regularly, windows screened and posting of evacuation plan in each classroom.
46. Assures that fire and earthquake drills are conducted monthly.
47. Post emergency numbers in designated areas.
F. Direct Service/Agency Promotion
48. Develop and maintain community school district relations, develop opportunities for Kindergarten and preschool linkages, and services provided by EES.
49. Participates in activities that furthers own professional growth.
50. Maintains and encourages professional, positive, constructive communication with children, families, and staff.
51. Develops and maintains positive communications with public and private agencies (including school districts, regional centers, landlords, etc.)
52. Represents the Agency at community functions as needed.
53. Assists other centers when requested.
54. Act in the absence, as needed, for other Directors during non school days, as directed by the Program Director.
55. Review and follow EES employee handbook.
56. Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above list. The list of duties and responsibilities may be expanded at times without revision to meet the immediate needs of the agency, including location.
57. All other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Vice President and COO or President and CEO.

Education/Training
Meet Title 5 and Title 22 requirements to quality as a fully qualified Director including 3 units of administration and 3 units of infant care if directing and infant program.
Six (6) units in Infant/Toddler development (if applicable)
BA/BS Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
Experience
2 years teaching and 2 years of supervision experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Site Supervisor or Program Director Child Development Permit
Provide current transcripts during annual performance review
CPR and First Aid, including 16 hours of Health and Safety Training
Finger print clearance, FBI and Child Abuse Index
Complete and pass physical and negative TB test
Annual proof of influenza vaccine (or a statement declining)
Proof of pertussis and measles immunizations
Complete and pass CDSS Mandated Reporter Certification
Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Current Insurance if driving on behalf of EES
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Child development center classroom environment, position may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, bending, sitting on the floor, standing for long periods of time and lifting children and materials as necessary.
The daily environment will require extensive standing, bending at the waist, squatting, up and down movement with your legs, crawling, kneeling, twisting, walking, lifting, reaching above and below shoulders, climbing and jumping. There will be physical activities performed with the children that include jumping jacks, running, etc.
There will be times you may be performing work under stressful conditions.
