Job Summary
The Dog Ranch Resort, lower Alabama’s premier Dog daycare, boarding, training, and grooming business is searching for select candidates to provide grooming services.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Dog Groomer is responsible for caring, cleaning and styling our Dog Guests and providing top tier customer service to our Dog Owners.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Bathe and groom all dog breeds
- Scissor cut and trim dogs
- Shave and brush dogs
- Trim nails of dogs
- Clean out dogs' ears and check for mites and fleas
- Remove ticks and fleas
- Make each dog look and smell their best for their owners
- Lift and move dogs, as needed
- Check for signs of disease or distress and communicate, as needed
- Record weight, size, physical condition, and grooming notes
- Ensure grooming room is clean and well maintained
- Ensure grooming supplies are on hand when needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be able to groom all dog types; creative groomers are welcome
- Applicants must be comfortable with hand scissoring
- Applicants must have great communication skills and be good with people
- Applicants must be able to work around dogs of all types, breeds, and temperaments
- Applicants must be able to work well on their own
- Applicants must be able to work as part of a team
- Applicants must be dependable, punctual and very responsible
- Applicants must consent to and be able to pass a background check
- Applicants must consent to and pass a drug screening test
- Applicants must come to work clean, well groomed; dressed in uniform
- Applicants must adhere to policies & procedures
- Applicants must perform other related duties as required during working hours
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have at least three years of dog grooming experience
- Must have a genuine love for dogs and enjoy working with people
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Applicants must be able to lift dogs up to fifty pounds, squat and stoop
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

SENSORY DEMANDS
- The Groomer may have to manage a number of dogs/people/situations at one time, and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of client owners and dogs.
- The Groomer may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
MENTAL DEMANDS (Conditions that may lead to mental or emotional fatigue)
The Groomer deals with a very active dog environment as many of the dogs are may have special needs and require considerable attention.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Required to be available five days per week, as mutually agreed.
- Candidates will be supervised at all times by the Manager
