JOB
The Equipment Lead Mechanic performs technical work in the maintenance of county vehicles and equipment by performing difficult and complex mechanical repair work on diversified automotive and heavy equipment. This role supervises the activities of department personnel, vehicle and heavy equipment mechanics. The Equipment Lead Mechanic assigns, plans and supervises work for mechanics. This position is also responsible for developing and implementing garage policies and procedures, and overseeing proper training of staff; overseeing facility maintenance; maintaining inventories of parts and supplies; and maintaining records of maintenance performed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment and machinery including automotive diagnostic equipment, hand tools, etc. Must be physically able to operate a variety of motor vehicles. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
