Live-In Caregiver / Trauma-Informed Support Specialist
Location: Position begins in East San Diego County and will relocate out of the county, possibly out of state. Relocation required.
Schedule:
- Initial phase: 10–15 hours/week in East San Diego County for 60–90 days to build rapport and trust
- Transition into a live-in role working 24 hours a day, 4–5 days per week (days do not need to be consecutive)
- Not required to stay awake overnight, but must be present onsite during scheduled 24 hour live-in shifts
Compensation: $500/day during live-in schedule
Housing: Private housing included. Caregiver may remain living at the residence during non-working days if desired.
Start Date: Flexible, but ASAP preferred
Commitment: Long-term commitment required

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced, compassionate caregiver for an adult female with developmental disabilities who cognitively presents more similarly to an adolescent.
Client has a history of severe complex trauma, including sexual exploitation/trafficking, abuse, and significant life instability. We are looking for someone who can provide structure, emotional safety, consistency, and trauma-informed support while helping her continue building independence.
This is not a traditional caregiving role and requires exceptional emotional maturity, patience, and strong boundaries.

Ideal Experience
Strong preference for candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Developmental disabilities/intellectual disabilities
- Complex trauma/PTSD
- Human trafficking or abuse survivors
- Behavioral health
- Nursing/medical background
- Residential treatment
- Special education
- Social work/case management
- Experience working with adolescents or adults with younger developmental presentation

- Provide supervision and emotional support
- Maintain structure and routines
- Support medication management
- Encourage healthy eating habits
- Assist with emotional regulation during triggers
- Participate in activities such as walks, gardening, arts/crafts, animal care, and outdoor activities
- Transport to appointments and errands
- Follow care plans closely
- Communicate with support team
Client can be high-risk for elopement during periods of distress, so caregiver must be observant, proactive, and able to identify warning signs early.
