American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an active OH or compact RN license and 2 years of experience.

Work in a blended Med-Surg and PCU unit within a hospital setting
-
Standard Med-Surg assignments are typically 4:1, and PCU assignments are typically 3:1
-
Unionized nursing staff means travelers are generally the first to be flexed to a 5:1 Med-Surg assignment based on unit needs
-
13-week assignment length
-
Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
-
R/O positions do not have a set rotating schedule; shift assignment is based on organizational need

Charge-capable required on night shift
-
Float required within the OSU organization as needed
-
Uses EPIC for documentation and Omnicell for medication management
-
Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
-
Must be comfortable with CPAP/BiPAP management and medication titrations
-
Skilled in respiratory care including chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
-
Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
-
Experience with Heparin protocols, PCA, and titrating cardiac drips
-
Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
-
Experience with telemetry, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
-
Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
-
2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references accepted)

Provide nursing care across a blended Med-Surg and PCU patient population
-
Prior charge experience preferred

First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Local candidates are accepted at the same rate

Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler

RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
-
Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract as part of the credentialing process
