The Volen Center is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and relationship-driven Director of Community Relations and Development to lead our fundraising, donor engagement, community outreach, and public relations efforts. This key leadership position will play a vital role in advancing the organization's mission of enriching the lives of older adults and supporting their independence, health, and well-being.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, skilled fundraiser, and passionate community advocate who can cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, corporate partners, foundations, elected officials, and community stakeholders while increasing the visibility and impact of the Volen Center.
Position Summary
The Director of Community Relations and Development is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all aspects of philanthropy, donor relations, community engagement, marketing, and public awareness initiatives. This individual will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, and community partners to expand financial support and strengthen the Volen Center's presence throughout the community.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Fundraising
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy.
- Cultivate, solicit, steward, and retain individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and community partners.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants and sponsorships.
- Manage donor pipelines and maintain accurate fundraising records and reports.
- Lead annual giving campaigns and major gift initiatives.
- Coordinate fundraising events and special campaigns to increase philanthropic support.
Community Relations
- Serve as a primary ambassador for the Volen Center throughout Palm Beach County and surrounding communities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, civic groups, businesses, and government agencies.
- Represent the organization at networking events, meetings, and public engagements.
- Develop partnerships that enhance services, visibility, and community impact.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Public Administration, or related field.
- Demonstrated success securing major gifts, sponsorships, grants, or philanthropic support.
- Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency with donor databases and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Experience working with senior services, healthcare, human services, or nonprofit organizations.
- Knowledge of Palm Beach County philanthropic and community networks.
- Experience managing development events and volunteer programs.
