American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Home Health Hospice position in South Portland, ME, requiring a ME or compact RN license and a minimum of one year of hospice experience.

Home health hospice setting — care is provided in patients' homes, not at a hospice house

Patient population includes oncology, dementia/Alzheimer's, end-stage CHF/COPD, and end-stage neurological conditions such as ALS, MS, and Parkinson's

Case manager caseload averages 15–20 patients, with an office census of 85–90 patients

Primary schedule is Friday through Monday, four 10-hour shifts per day

Business hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with weekend and on-call rotation

Weekend rotation is typically once or twice a month, depending on staffing
-
Overnight on-call rotation (5:00 PM – 8:00 AM) is typically once or twice a month but may increase based on staffing needs

Floating to other agency locations may be requested if the South Portland territory census is low

IV pumps are provided through a vendor

Candidates must use their own personal vehicle to travel between patient homes

Active RN license — ME state license or compact license required

Current BLS certification

Valid driver's license required; personal vehicle required for travel between patient homes

Minimum 1 year of experience in home health or hospice nursing

Clinical proficiency in caring for oncology, dementia, end-stage CHF/COPD, and end-stage neurological condition patients

Full SSN required for consideration

Two professional references within the past year required; at least one must be from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse — peer references are not accepted

Copies of all current certifications required for consideration

Driver's license copy required as a separate document for consideration

Flu vaccination required for employment clearance (medical exemptions reviewed on a case-by-case basis)

Provides hospice case management and direct patient care across a defined home health territory

Supported by a scheduling team, clinical manager, and lead support team

Orientation is 1–2 weeks

Holiday coverage is required when the assignment aligns with major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)

Time off requests require manager approval

Business casual attire or scrubs are acceptable; no specific scrub color is required

Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME to be eligible; candidates living 100+ miles north may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Candidates who have previously worked in a permanent capacity at any Northern Light Health hospital are not eligible

First-time travelers with hospice experience will be considered; travelers with at least 1 year of specialty experience are also welcome to apply
