Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team, providing essential care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Support medication administration and ensure compliance with care plans under supervision or as trained.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist residents with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing cleaning duties, laundry, and organizing resident spaces.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages independence and dignity.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance.
- Document resident progress, update care plans regularly, and communicate effectively with team members regarding resident needs.
- Assist individual in a work setting, teaching and training work skills.
Requirements
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, and autism spectrum disorder support.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring tools such as Hoyer lifts, vital signs measurement, medication administration, CPR/First Aid certification required, we have a certified CPR/First Aid trainer.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus, but not required .
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with manual handling tasks.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and respecting resident confidentiality.
