Duties
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items efficiently, following established recipes and presentation standards
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dish ideas and improvements based on customer feedback and seasonal ingredients
- Maintain food safety standards by adhering to proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including knives, slicers, ovens, and fryers
- Support food preparation tasks such as slicing, dicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients with precision using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service hours
- Ensure all food products are prepared in accordance with dietary department requirements and dietary aide guidelines when applicable
- Contribute to catering events by preparing large quantities of meals while maintaining quality control
- Follow safety standards in production environments to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working space
- Assist in cleaning workstations and equipment regularly to uphold cleanliness standards
Experience
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant kitchens is highly preferred
- Proven culinary experience demonstrating proficiency in food preparation and cooking techniques
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and handling procedures
- Familiarity with dietary department protocols or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Strong knife skills with the ability to execute slicing techniques efficiently and safely
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering operations is desirable
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
