POSITION SUMMARY
Pharmacy Technician I / II:
Assists pharmacists with inventory and inspections, including maintaining records of such. Receives and processes orders, packages drugs. Maintains pharmacy spaces in orderly manner.
Pharmacy Technician III:
Assists pharmacists with inventory and inspections, including maintaining records of such. Receives and processes orders, packages drugs. Maintains pharmacy spaces in orderly manner. Provides on-call back up support to assist licensed registered Pharmacist.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction and supervision of a licensed Registered Pharmacist:
Pharmacy Technician I / II:
- On a regularly scheduled basis inspects all locations where drugs are stored. Check all items for current dating and replenishes drugs and supplies to par levels. Maintain records of all inspections.
- Receives, prioritizes, packages and mails village clinic drug and pharmacy supply orders. Communicates with village health aides for clarification or problems with orders.
- Performs a variety of drug packaging and labeling dates.
- Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other personnel regarding drug availability and dosage forms.
- Performs regular inventories and prepares drug and supply orders. Receives, unpacks, and stores drug supplies. Rotates inventory to insure current dating. Removes outdated drugs and packages them for return.
- Maintains pharmacy and drug storage areas in a clean and orderly manner. Cleans utensils, glassware, counters and sinks as needed. Maintains storage shelves in an orderly manner.
- Reviews physician orders for intravenous solution additives. Calculates and prepares additive drugs, materials and labels required for admixtures.
- Assists in the bulk as assigned.
- As experienced is obtained, must be able to identify correct auxiliary labels for each medication.
- Perform and/or assume other job or work related duties as assigned.

- Represent/assist the pharmacy department in Quality Management functions.
- Helps fill individual prescriptions with knowledge of correct auxiliary labels for each indication.
- Attend job related training or education programs as required.
- Will provide on-call back up support in rotation to assist licensed registered pharmacist during codes, disaster or as deemed necessary by licensed registered pharmacist.
- Perform and/or assume other job or work related duties as assigned.
