Construction Inspector – Bridge / Rail / Transportation Infrastructure
Hayduk Engineering, LLC is expanding its Construction Administration Division and is seeking qualified Construction Inspectors for an upcoming transportation infrastructure assignment in the New York City area.
The ideal candidate will have experience with bridge rehabilitation, structural repairs, painting/coatings, highway or railroad construction, and civil/transportation infrastructure inspection. Experience working on projects for agencies such as MTA, NYSDOT, NYSTA, NYCDDC, NYCDOT, or similar public agencies is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities may include:
- Performing daily field inspections of bridge, viaduct, station, and related civil/structural repair work
- Monitoring contractor activities for general conformance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and applicable agency requirements
- Inspecting work related to concrete repairs, steel repairs, painting/coatings, drainage, utilities, station improvements, traffic control, and railroad/transit infrastructure
- Preparing daily inspection reports, photo documentation, field notes, quantity records, and other required project documentation
- Tracking contractor progress, pay quantities, materials, and potential non-conforming work
- Coordinating with resident engineers, contractors, agency representatives, and project staff
- Supporting safe work practices in active roadway, railroad, transit, and public environments
- Working nights, weekends, or variable shifts when required by the project schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of construction inspection experience on bridge, highway, railroad, transit, or civil infrastructure projects
- NICET Level II or III certification preferred
- Experience with public agency inspection and documentation procedures preferred
- Familiarity with MTA, NYSDOT, NYSTA, NYCDDC, NYCDOT, or similar agency standards is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate daily inspection reports
- Valid and clean driver’s license
- Personal vehicle for transportation to and from project sites
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
- MTA, railroad, or track safety training is a plus
