The Keefer House Hotel is a 34-room boutique hotel and full-service restaurant located in Hillsdale, MI. This historic hotel will have a trendy, locally inspired restaurant and bar. We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of General Manager with experience operating a full-service hotel and a multi-meal-period restaurant. The hotel will open in the fall of 2026, and the GM is responsible for opening both the hotel and restaurant. This position will establish the culture and create a brand identity.

Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced General Manager with a strong sales background – someone who can lead both the hotel’s restaurant and sales operations. The ideal candidate has a sales background along with General Manager and F&B experience.
Location: Hillsdale, Michigan: Candidate must be able to commute daily or is willing to relocate before starting work (Required)
Responsibilities:
- Perform administrative duties including reading and writing reports, developing pre-opening and operating budgets, communicating with guests, managers, corporate office, local associations, etc.

Critically review reports on occupancy, revenue, etc.

Make judgments and implement changes to maximize profits.

Supervise development of and revisions to business plan, annual budget and annual and monthly forecasts, etc.

Communicate with the public, staff, corporate office and owners.

Create a professional environment establishing a strong culture amongst employees to achieve company goals and objectives.

Interview, hire, supervise, and counsel department managers in the efficient operation of their respective area(s). Meet with, develop, and delegate improvement plans for operation and review performance of management team.

Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, and provide open communication.

Participate in community affairs and maintain a positive public image for the hotel.

Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.

Physically tour and inspect the property daily.

Monitor cost control, property condition, cleanliness, and quality of product and service throughout the hotel.

Greet and maintain rapport with associates and customers.

Travel to attend corporate meetings, sales trips, and community events.
Previous experience as a General Manager, preferably in an upscale or independent boutique hotel. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, work location, etc.
