Description
Read this if you have outgrown your ceiling
You are one of the strongest commercial appraisers in your market. You have the designation (or will), the technical range across property types, and the client trust. And somewhere along the way you realized the ceiling above you was not set by your ability; it was set by someone else's org chart. The senior partners are entrenched, the path to ownership is theoretical, and your best ideas get filed under "someday."
We built this role for you.
The opportunity
We are a fast-growing, entrepreneurial valuation firm structured so that the people who build the business share in owning it. This is not a salaried seat under three layers of leadership. It is a leadership platform with a defined path to equity and ownership for the person who earns it. You will not be waiting for a retirement to create your opening. You will be building your own practice, your own book, and your own trajectory inside a firm that rewards business acumen as much as technical excellence.
And you get to do it in one of the strongest commercial markets in the country. Austin's growth across office, industrial, multifamily, retail, and land keeps sophisticated valuation work in constant demand, and we want someone who sees that landscape as territory to claim rather than a workload to manage.
If you want to own your destiny, chart your own path, and be measured by what you build rather than how many reports clear your desk, keep reading.
What you will actually do
You will lead a practice, not just supervise a queue. That means:
-
Own the client relationships that matter, and go win the ones we do not have yet. Business development is not a chore we ask you to squeeze in; it is the core of the role and the clearest lever on your compensation and equity.
-
Build and mentor a team of analysts and appraisers, and shape the culture, standards, and workflow they operate within.
-
Serve as the senior technical authority on complex, high-value commercial assignments across property types, reviewing and signing work to a standard you set.
-
Set the strategy for your practice: the property sectors you pursue, the specialties you deepen, the technology and process you bring to bear.
-
Operate as a business owner in training, with real input on staffing, growth, and how the practice is run.
What sets this apart
Most Managing Director roles offer a bigger title and the same ceiling. This one offers future ownership. Our people are rewarded not only for the appraisal work they produce but for the business they build, the clients they bring, and the leaders they develop. The upside is real, the autonomy is real, and the path to becoming an owner in a dynamic, growing firm is real and defined.
If you are ready to stop being the best-kept secret inside someone else's firm, we want to talk.
