Position Summary
We are seeking a caring, energetic, and experienced Lead Older Toddler Teacher to lead our classroom of children ages 2–3 years. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about play-based learning, understands child development, and enjoys creating engaging experiences that help toddlers build confidence, independence, and essential social-emotional skills.
Responsibilities
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that supports all areas of development.
- Observe and document children's growth while using assessments to guide lesson planning.
- Foster language development, early literacy, social-emotional learning, and independence through meaningful daily experiences.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Build positive, professional relationships with families through daily communication and conferences as needed.
- Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to support children's success.
- Ensure children's health and safety by following all licensing regulations and Illumination policies.
- Fulfill all mandated reporter responsibilities and immediately report suspected abuse or neglect according to Pennsylvania regulations.
- Incorporate Illumination's mission, values, and philosophy into daily interactions with children and families.
- Most importantly, love making a difference in the lives of young children every day!
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- CDA, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
- Must meet Pennsylvania DHS teacher qualification requirements.
- Current (or ability to obtain) required clearances, health assessment, TB test, and mandated trainings prior to employment.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Passion for creating meaningful learning experiences through play.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively supervise young children throughout the day.
- Frequently lift, carry, or assist children weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Bend, squat, kneel, sit on the floor, reach, and actively participate in classroom activities.
- Maintain the energy and attentiveness necessary to care for active toddlers.
