Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection prevention protocols.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays using imaging equipment such as the digital X-ray system, adhering strictly to safety standards and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Manage patient records accurately using patient management software Dentrix, ensuring all medical documentation complies with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort during treatments.
- Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures to maintain aseptic technique and prevent cross-contamination.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history of patients prior to procedures, ensuring their safety throughout treatment.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental wellness.
- Support the dental reception team by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and answering patient inquiries professionally.
- Maintain clinical cleanliness by adhering to infection control standards for dental equipment and treatment areas.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures as needed for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EMR systems) Dentrix is essential for accurate documentation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is required.
- Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, including dental radiography and oral surgery imaging.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and managing young patients is a plus.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines including prosthodontics and endodontics.
- Demonstrated ability to follow infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques diligently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, specialists, and patients.
