Duties
- Support licensed electricians in installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems on construction sites
- Assist with reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure accurate installations
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform tasks such as wiring, conduit bending, and fixture installation
- Follow electrical safety procedures diligently, including NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association code) compliance and low/high voltage safety protocols
- Help with testing electrical circuits using tools like ohmmeters and multimeters to verify proper operation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and materials are stored safely and efficiently
- Learn to identify different types of electrical components and understand their functions within complex systems
Skills
- Basic understanding of electrical blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and blueprint reading skills
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment such as ohmmeters
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) standards and electrical safety procedures
- Experience or interest in industrial or commercial electrician work is a plus
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while working under supervision
- Construction site experience is advantageous for understanding job site safety and workflow
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors
