JOB SUMMARY
This RN position requires knowledge and skill in chemotherapy and general infusion techniques. The infusion/chemotherapy nurse is responsible for patient assessment, toxicity assessment, and patient education along with infusing or injecting a multitude of medications. This RN is responsible for providing quality, safe care to all patients regardless of diagnosis or status. This RN should have a working knowledge of anatomy and physiology; specific knowledge and understanding of the vascular system and its relationship with other body systems and infusion treatment modalities; knowledge of psychosocial aspects of care specific to our patient population. This RN should be willing and able to interact and collaborate with members of the healthcare team and participate in the clinical decision-making process.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: AD in nursing required, OCN preferred. Bio/chemo certificate required within 90 days of hire.
Licensure: Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina or an active compact state. BLS required.
Experience: Two years relevant experience preferred.
Skills: Ability to access all central and peripheral lines. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Nursing skills as defined in the law governing the practice of nursing in North Carolina.
