POSITION SUMMARY
The Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals for patients and facility staff according to the approved menu cycle and production sheets.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalency required. Must have a basic knowledge of food services sanitation practices.
COOK JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follows posted cleaning schedule and ensures a clean work area and dining room at all times.
- Sweeps and mops floor on a daily basis.
- Complies with established guidelines for sanitation and safety.
- Provides assistance with washing dishes and maintains the dish room area in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Opens and closes the kitchen, and ensures the organization of daily events.
- Complies with all corporate, facility and departmental policies and procedures regarding food service as well as other standards of conduct.
- Adheres to standards for food temperatures during cooking, serving and food preparation.
- Reports any equipment malfunction immediately to the Food Services Coordinator.
- Interacts with patients in the serving line with courtesy and offers assistance when needed.
- Encourages a harmonious working relationship in the department as well as with all employees at the facility.
- Prepares salad bar, desserts and snacks on a daily basis including set up and clean up.
- Follows the daily food production directive given by the Food Services Coordinator.
- Provide leadership to the other food service staff during shift.
- Completes and prepares meals in a timely manner as prescribed by posted meal times, and accurately prepares food for diets, consulting with Dietician as required.
- Provide assistance with washing dishes and maintaining dish room in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
- Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
- Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
- Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
