Industrial Seamstress
National Canvas has been building custom marine canvas & upholstery in South Florida since 1974. We are hiring an experienced industrial sewer for our Delray Beach shop.
If you can run an industrial machine and you care about clean, straight, strong seams, we want to meet you. Our sewing room is the heart of the shop. Every bimini, enclosure, cover, cushion, & Sunshade we build passes through it.
The work is heavy marine fabric, not apparel. Center console cushions & covers are our bread & butter, and we also do yacht & superyacht work, enclosures, & commercial shade. Every boat is different, so no two weeks look the same.
What you will do
- Sew custom marine canvas: biminis, enclosures, covers, Sunshades, & cushions
- Work with premium materials: Sunbrella, Serge Ferrari, Stamoid, marine vinyls, & PTFE thread
- Run industrial walking foot machines. Double needle experience is a plus
- Cut & assemble panels from patterns prepared by our technicians
- Finish work: zippers, fasteners, binding, & reinforcements
- Work with our upholstery team & canvas techs on jobs big & small
What we are looking for
- Experience on industrial sewing machines. Marine canvas, awnings, upholstery, tents, sails, or similar heavy fabrics
- An eye for detail & consistency. Our customers notice the stitching, & so do we
- Able to read patterns & measurements
- Respectful of the people around you, clean & tidy at your station, & on time
- Reliable & steady, & takes real pride in the craft
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese is welcome here

Pay & schedule
- Starting $18-20 per hour, based on experience
- Full-time, Monday through Friday. Open to experienced part-time
- Overtime available
