Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, compassionate care and daily support to clients.

Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity.

Engage clients in meaningful activities and companionship.

Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Observe and report any changes in client condition or behavior to management.

Qualifications & Requirements
Proven experience as a caregiver or in a similar home health/residential care role.

Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.

- Reliable transportation to the facility/hiring location.

. Background Screening (Level 2)
- Must pass a Level 2 Background Screening through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the FBI via the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
- Must be registered and cleared in the Background Screening Clearinghouse system before providing any direct care.
An APD Affidavit of Good Moral Character must be signed and kept on file.

- 2. Core Pre-Service Training
All APD direct-care staff must complete the required introductory courses within their first 30 to 90 days of hire (often through the TRAIN Florida platform):
- Direct Care Core Competencies (DCCC): Covers the basic knowledge needed to support individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Zero Tolerance: Mandatory training focused on preventing, recognizing, and reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- Health and Safety: General practices for maintaining a safe environment for clients.
3. Core Certifications & Identifications

- CPR and First Aid: Must hold a valid, in-person (or blended) certification from an approved provider (such as the American Heart Association or Red Cross).
- Valid Driver’s License: A current, valid Florida Driver's License along with clean proof of automobile insurance (if transporting clients).
- High School Diploma: A minimum of a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required for APD-funded provider staff.
4. Experience Requirements

- Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities (or a related healthcare/human services field).
- Note: College, university, or vocational school credits can sometimes be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Must be able to pass a Level 2 APD Background Screening/Clearinghouse check.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- APD Core Training (Direct Care Core Competencies & Zero Tolerance) is a huge plus (or must be willing to complete upon hire).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in caregiving, HHA, CNA, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Ability to pass required background screenings and compliance checks.
