Are you a passionate dog lover looking for a meaningful way to bring a well-behaved companion into your life without the immediate commitment of permanent adoption?
We are a local breeding program looking for dedicated Contract In-Home Dog Socializers to provide a loving home environment for our retired adult dogs. Our dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and well-socialized within our kennel, but they need an experienced "host family" to help them transition into normal household pet life (getting used to household noises, neighborhood walks, and lounging on the couch).
This is a Trial Placement position. If you fall in love with the dog during the contract period, you will have the Right of First Refusal to permanently adopt them at a discounted fee schedule and transition them into your family forever.
What We Provide
- All premium dog food, treats crates, and initial supplies.
- 100% coverage of all routine and pre-approved veterinary care.
- A flat monthly care stipend of $50.00 to cover your time and space.
What you’ll do
- Provide high-quality daily care, exercise, and companionship in your home.
- Actively socialize the dog to a standard home routine.
- Monitor health and temperament, providing regular updates to the owner
- Participate in active home placement events
- Maintained clean environment, free of feces and urine
- Coat maintenance ( professional grooming provided periodically)
Basic qualifications
- Must live in a residential environment suitable for an adult dog (fenced yard preferred but not a deal breaker). Homeowners preferred.
- Must have a stable home environment with no more than 2 current pets, and agree to a strict "no new pets" policy during the contract period.
- Must strictly comply with Virginia’s Adequate Care laws (no outdoor chaining, proper shelter).
- Must have no history of animal cruelty or neglect convictions.
- Must be within 45 min driving distance of the Greenbrier Area of Chesapeake, 23320 for prearranged meet-and-greets.
Preferred qualifications
- True love for dogs
- Skills in pet grooming, pet sitting, or kennel experience a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, such as moving large dog crates or supplies

Pay: $50.00 per month
