Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; accurately document findings in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper procedures and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral health management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, or post-acute settings to deliver seamless patient service.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care or phlebotomy to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Assist with patient transfers using proper lifting techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts; support mobility in inpatient and outpatient environments.
- Engage in medical documentation and accurate recording of patient information including medical terminology and physiology knowledge.
- Work with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, and those requiring hospice or infectious disease care.
- Uphold standards of patient service excellence while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification from an accredited program; current state licensure required.
- Experience working in various healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for medical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic life support (BLS) and adhere to aseptic techniques during clinical procedures.
- Prior experience with critical care areas such as ICU or emergency medicine is highly desirable; experience in geriatrics or dementia care is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration protocols.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams; compassionate caregiving attitude essential.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks including lifting patients safely using assistive devices; flexibility to work varying shifts including nights or weekends. Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
