You'll manage patient scheduling, medical documentation, and insurance processing while assisting with dental procedures, sterilization, and maintaining clinical protocols. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and manage appointment scheduling using patient management software .
- Collect patient vital signs and medical histories, ensuring accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Assist dentists during procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by preparing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Operate dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners following infection prevention management and aseptic techniques to produce high-quality medical imaging.
- Process dental instruments through sterilization procedures, ensuring adherence to infection control standards and dental sterilization protocols.
- Manage patient flow efficiently by coordinating appointment times, updating medical records, and handling billing or coding as needed.
- Support clinical team members with chairside assisting during four-handed dentistry procedures while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing patient records and scheduling.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, infection prevention management, and healthcare infection control practices.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and dental sterilization tools confidently.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
- Knowledge of medical documentation standards, medical coding, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Certification or training in dental assisting or chairside assisting is preferred; experience with pediatric dentistry or oral surgery is a plus.
