American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position at a Level IV Trauma Center in Sheboygan, WI, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and Epic proficiency.

Float Pool position requiring flexibility to work across all inpatient Med/Surg units, including frequent floating to ER Holding/Boarding
-
Units covered include General Med/Surg (oncology, surgical, general medical), Ortho/Neuro, and Cardiac
-
Patient population includes general medical, surgical, oncology, orthopedic, neurological, and cardiac patients; some pediatric patients (>1 yr) present on the floor, but travelers will not be assigned peds patients
-
Night shift, 12-hour shifts (1845–0715), 36 hours/week

Patient ratios: 1:4–6 on days, 1:6 on nights
-
CNA support available (vitals, blood glucose; no IV insertions); HUC support on days only; Phlebotomy, RT, Hospitalist, and remote tele monitoring available 24/7

OT, PT, and ST available on weekdays with limited weekend hours

Epic EMR experience required; Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing used

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call responsibilities

Holiday coverage expected for approximately 50% of holidays during the contract

Active WI or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

Epic EMR experience required

Required skills include chest tube management, stable trach management, IV skills, port/central line management, foley insertion/care, feeding tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo
-
Experience titrating drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, argatroban) preferred; candidates without drip experience may be considered with manager approval

Cardiac post-procedure experience (cath, TEE, cardioversion) preferred; candidates without this experience may be considered with manager approval
-
At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year required for consideration
-
Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Orientation consists of one full shift covering system logins and paperwork, followed by one 12-hour shift of unit orientation; brief orientation provided for any new units floated to thereafter

Charge nurse takes a patient assignment (sometimes full, sometimes reduced); hospitalist communicates via secure Epic chat
-
If tele techs are short-staffed, travelers may be asked to assist with remote telemetry monitoring
-
Schedule is set 4–6 weeks in advance; travelers receive their schedule approximately 2 weeks prior; block scheduling may be considered upon request but is not guaranteed

RTO requests must be submitted to and approved by the manager

Solid color scrubs required; no graphics, logos, or designs
