Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive veterinary experience, including proficiency in animal handling, laboratory work, anesthesia, and emergency care. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality pet care while working in a collaborative setting that values expertise and dedication.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with precision and professionalism.
- Perform laboratory tests, including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and radiology diagnostics, ensuring accurate results for diagnosis and treatment.
- Manage animal restraint and handling across various species, including dogs, cats, and equines, utilizing proper techniques to ensure safety for animals and staff.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and fluids via IV insertion or catheterization while monitoring anesthesia during surgical procedures.
- Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, anesthesia monitors, and other diagnostic tools with competence and adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Provide pet care instructions and client communication to educate pet owners about health management and treatment plans.
- Support critical & intensive care units by monitoring animals in emergency situations with veterinary anesthesia monitoring skills.
- Assist in veterinary surgical procedures by preparing the surgical site, maintaining sterile fields, and supporting intraoperative needs.
Experience
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in animal husbandry and emergency medicine.
- Kennel experience is preferred for effective animal management within hospital settings.
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment scheduling.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and general anesthesia protocols essential for the role.
- Experience with laboratory work including phlebotomy and diagnostic testing is highly desirable.
- Skills in dental terminology, dental procedures, and pet dental care are advantageous.
- Ability to handle diverse animals confidently—dog training skills or advanced animal handling experience are beneficial—along with proficiency in radiology diagnostics such as X-ray imaging.
