The Opportunity
An established architectural millwork manufacturer is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex custom millwork projects in Big Sky, Montana.
This is a senior, client-facing position requiring direct experience managing custom architectural millwork—not solely general construction or interior renovations. You will coordinate projects through drawings, approvals, fabrication, shipping, site installation, deficiency resolution, and closeout.
The successful candidate must permanently relocate to Big Sky and be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Manage custom architectural millwork projects from award through installation and closeout.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, general contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and site teams.
- Review contracts, architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
- Coordinate submittals, approvals, purchasing, fabrication, shipping, site readiness, and installation.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, invoicing, change orders, documentation, and progress reporting.
- Identify scope gaps, production challenges, scheduling risks, and site conflicts.
- Coordinate with drafting, engineering, purchasing, production, logistics, and installation teams.
- Conduct site visits, field verification, and progress inspections as required.
- Monitor installation quality, deficiencies, corrective work, and final completion.
- Maintain clear communication with clients and project stakeholders throughout the project.
Required Qualifications
- At least 10 years of combined architectural millwork and related industry experience.
- At least five years managing architectural millwork projects.
- Direct experience with custom architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, store fixtures, or architectural woodwork.
- Experience working on at least one construction project valued at $10 million or more.
- Strong knowledge of millwork drawings, materials, fabrication, delivery, and installation.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, change orders, invoicing, subcontractors, and project documentation.
- Strong client-facing communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to permanently relocate to Big Sky, Montana.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
- Willingness to work under a full-time independent-contractor arrangement.
Candidates who progressed into project management from cabinetmaking, installation, drafting, estimating, production, or technical coordination are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Full-cycle responsibility from project award through fabrication, installation, deficiencies, and closeout.
- Experience with large commercial, hospitality, retail, institutional, or luxury residential projects.
- Knowledge of AWI standards.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Project, Crow’s Nest, or similar software.
- Practical knowledge of cabinetmaking, materials, veneers, finishes, hardware, joinery, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience coordinating projects across manufacturing and remote installation locations.
Compensation
- Up to $125,000 USD annually, based on experience.
- Additional annual allowance of $10,000 USD toward health insurance.
- Full-time independent-contractor arrangement.
- Opportunity to manage complex, high-value architectural millwork projects.
