Appointment: Teachers shall be appointed annually, upon the recommendation of the Principal to the Superintendent.
Qualifications:

Shall hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position.

Shall demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers, and adults.

Shall demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
Physical Demands: Shall have the ability to sit, stand, stoop, as well as lift, carry, push or pull light weights. The work at times requires all body movements as related to the job description.
Job Summary: Implements a variety of educational services to meet the needs of students with identified disabilities based on each student’s individual education plan (IEP) and consistent with current curriculum; monitors, evaluates, and communicates student progress; maintains records and makes reports; enforces Board policies, regulations, and rules; supervises students, and secures and maintains school property and materials.
Performance Responsibilities:

Supervises and provides instruction to assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.

Develops and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

Plans and implements a program of study that meets individual needs, interests and abilities in alignment with the district's curriculum as well as the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student.

Establishes and maintains high standards of classroom behavior and academic expectations.

Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Assists the administration in implementing policies, regulations and school rules governing student conduct, develops reasonable procedures and rules of classroom behavior, maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

Evaluates student progress on a continuous basis and communicates with students and parents/guardians concerning academic and behavioral progress, assessment results, and clear expectations.

Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation as related to Special Education.

Acts as a member of the Admission and Release Committee, attends and participates in faculty meetings, serves on assigned committees, and accepts a share of responsibility for extracurricular activities.

Exhibits a cooperative attitude in assisting others to meet student needs and school goals.

Assists in assigning duties of classified employees assigned to the classroom instructor.

Continues personal professional growth in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Completes all training and other compliance requirements as assigned.

Understands and follows the Professional code of ethics for Kentucky certified personnel.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
