Job Title: Classroom Instructional Paraprofessional/Special Education Aide/ Bus Monitor
Reports to: Principal and Teacher(s) Assigned
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
Help meet physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in self-contained units and regular classrooms. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs.
Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.
Operate school vehicles and related equipment to provide safe and orderly transportation of students and other authorized persons on assigned route(s) to and from other designated locations.
Ride buses and help driver ensure safe and orderly transportation of students.
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Clear and valid Texas commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and/or School Bus (S) endorsements
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must be 18 years of age
Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Ability to manage student behavior
Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to use maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to follow routes and locate addresses
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Experience:
Some experience working with children
