Scotts Valley Treatment Center is looking for a dependable, organized Cook to join our residential treatment program and prepare meals for our clients and staff.
This position is responsible for planning and preparing daily meals, maintaining an organized kitchen, monitoring food and supply needs, preparing food orders, and communicating shopping needs to staff responsible for outside purchasing.
Responsibilities Include:
- Plan and prepare meals for a residential client population
- Prepare meals in quantities appropriate for groups
- Develop and maintain meal plans
- Monitor food inventory and kitchen supplies
- Prepare grocery and food orders
- Communicate shopping and supply needs to designated staff
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
- Follow food safety and sanitation requirements
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience preparing meals for groups is required
- Current Food Handler Card or Food Safety Certification required
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen operations, food safety, sanitation, proper food storage, temperature control, and cross-contamination prevention
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow recipes, menus, labels, food safety requirements, and written program procedures and to communicate effectively with staff
- Must be comfortable preparing multiple meals daily for a residential population
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently
- Able to manage meal planning, food inventory, ordering, and communication of shopping needs
Schedule Options:
Some flexibility is available when establishing the final weekly schedule. Sundays are required.
Option 1 – Four 10-Hour Shifts
- 8:30 AM–6:30 PM
- 4 days per week
- Includes a paid 30-minute meal break
Option 2 – Five 8.5-Hour Shifts
- 9:30 AM–6:00 PM
- 5 days per week
- Includes a 30-minute unpaid clock-out meal break
The remaining scheduled days can be discussed based on program needs and applicant availability.
Sunday availability and previous group-cooking experience are required.
