Construction Cost Estimator

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience and qualifications)
We are partnering with a leading structural steel contractor to recruit an experienced Cost Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organization delivering complex commercial construction projects throughout Florida and the wider U.S. market.
This role will play a key part in the preconstruction and project planning process, working closely with project management, operations, and business development teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, evaluating labor and material costs, and supporting competitive bid submissions for commercial construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within commercial construction estimating, with structural steel experience highly preferred. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders are essential.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction and structural steel projects

Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project requirements

Perform quantity takeoffs and material calculations

Analyze labor, equipment, subcontractor, and material costs

Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations

Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals within established deadlines

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and preconstruction planning activities

Identify potential project risks and opportunities during the estimating process

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to support successful project delivery

Maintain accurate estimating records, databases, and documentation

Monitor market pricing trends and supplier costs

Support value engineering initiatives and cost-saving recommendations
Minimum Qualifications
-
Proven experience as a Cost Estimator, Construction Estimator, Cost Engineer, or similar role within the construction industry

Experience estimating commercial construction projects

Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid processes

Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and negotiation abilities

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software platforms

Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Willingness to travel to project sites as required

Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications

Experience within structural steel construction

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field

Knowledge of commercial construction procurement processes

Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and detailed bid packages

Familiarity with estimating software and project management platforms

Understanding of construction scheduling and project delivery methods
