Location: Broadside New Orleans (Mid-City)
Position Type: Full-Time
About The Broadside
The Broadside is a dynamic indoor/outdoor music venue and event space featuring two stages, two bars and a Japanese inspired restaurant (subleased). Located in the heart of Mid-City, we offer a never ending mix of events - everything from large outdoor concerts and film screenings, to indoor jazz sets and private events, as well as neighborhood festivals, and so much more - we have a very active calendar to say the least. We pride ourselves on being a cultural hub, welcoming to all.
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead daily operations for the venue. This role requires a unique blend of Front-of-House (FOH) savvy, event production expertise, music production, and the stamina to manage a sprawling outdoor venue.
The GM position is supported by an Events Manager, Bar Manager and Production team, as well as an engaged owner.
Key Responsibilities
- Venue & Event Management: Oversee the lifecycle of all events, including concerts, festivals and private rentals. Ensure seamless transitions between different types of programming within the same day.
- Operations & Logistics: Manage the physical setup and breakdown of the venue. This includes moving furniture, adjusting seating charts, and ensuring the grounds are clean and functional.
- FOH Leadership: Lead the floor during service. Manage bartending and service staff, handle guest relations, and ensure a high standard of New Orleans-style hospitality.
- Team Management: Hire, train, and schedule a versatile team. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and "organized flexibility."
- Financial Oversight: Manage labor costs, contracts with clients, sales reports, payroll, oversight of inventory and pricing structures for events. Assist in driving revenue through efficient bar operations with service at the forefront of all revenue decisions.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the venue meets all local health, safety, and alcohol permitting regulations, particularly in an outdoor setting.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience: 3+ years in FOH Restaurant Management or Event Space Management. Experience in a live music venue is a major plus but not a requirement.
- Physicality: This is not a "desk job." You must be comfortable being on your feet for 8–10 hours, walking the large footprint of the venue, and lifting/moving furniture and equipment frequently.
- The "Broadside" Mindset: You are highly organized and process-driven, yet you remain calm and flexible when "Plan A" meets a rain storm or a last-minute rider change. Ownership firmly believes the mantra of “guest and client come first”, and this mentality is at the heart of what we do. Our three adjectives are - organized, flexible and happy.
- Local Savvy: A deep understanding of the New Orleans hospitality landscape and a passion for the local arts/music scene.
- Tech Literacy: Some familiarity with graphic design editing is helpful.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain).
- Stamina for long shifts involving constant movement across an outdoor terrain.
