Summary
The Oakville Middle School/High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our football program for the 2026/2027 season. The Head Football Coach will be responsible for developing student-athletes both on and off the field, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, and promoting athletic excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the game, and a commitment to the personal growth of each player.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching plan that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring that all players receive appropriate instruction and feedback.
- Create game strategies and prepare the team for competitive play, including scouting opponents and analyzing game performance.
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages respect, discipline, and a strong work ethic among players.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player development.
- Oversee the recruitment and management of assistant coaches and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with all school and district policies, as well as state and national athletic regulations.
- Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes, promoting a balance between athletics and academics.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and in good condition for all team activities.
- Organize team events, including fundraisers, community service, and team-building activities.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of football strategies, techniques, and training methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes equity within the team.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the football season.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel for away games and events.
