Job description:
Ethos Music Center is currently seeking a part-time drumming/percussion instructor to teach private lesson students. Position could include group classes, ensembles, or outreach classes, if interested.
Experience with drum kit and some popular music styles (such rock, funk, jazz, etc.) is required for private lesson instructors. Drummers with expertise in hand-drumming, keyboard or auxiliary percussion, and/or regional or traditional musics are encouraged to apply. No degree requirement.
Responsibilities:
- Teach weekly music lessons and track student attendance.
- Choose appropriate repertoire according to students’ age, skill, and interests.
- Create a learning environment that balances expectations and structure with compassion and creativity.
- Maintain open communication with Ethos’ administrative staff about schedule.
- Maintain an organized and functional classroom.
- Promote a positive workplace environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience teaching private lessons.
- Self-motivation and ability to structure a course of private music lessons or group class.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Dedication to increasing students’ access to music education and enthusiasm about Ethos’ mission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluency in Spanish.
- 3+ years of teaching group and/or private lessons to youth.
- Experience as a musician or other performing artist.
Compensation:
- $25/hr (private lessons)
- $27/hr (group classes)
- $38.50/hr (off-site outreach programing)
