Position Summary
The Beer Garden Security Officer is responsible for helping create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for guests and staff. This position monitors access to the beer garden, verifies guest identification, assists with crowd management, and responds to situations in a professional and respectful manner while representing the company in a positive manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Check valid government-issued identification to verify legal drinking age.
- Monitor entrances and exits to ensure only authorized guests enter the beer garden.
- Maintain crowd control and help manage guest flow during busy periods and events.
- Observe guests for disruptive, aggressive, or unsafe behavior and respond appropriately.
- Enforce company policies and applicable state and local alcohol regulations.
- Assist in preventing underage drinking and over-service of alcohol.
- Communicate professionally with guests while resolving conflicts calmly and respectfully.
- Contact management or emergency services when situations require additional assistance.
- Monitor the beer garden for safety hazards and report concerns immediately.
- Help maintain an orderly, clean, and secure environment throughout each shift.
- Complete incident reports when necessary.
- Work closely with bartenders, servers, managers, and event staff to ensure a safe guest experience.
- Assist with opening and closing security procedures as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age (21 years preferred).
- Previous security, customer service, hospitality, or law enforcement experience is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
- Dependable, professional, and able to exercise good judgment.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to quickly respond to emergency situations when necessary.
